The clinical dynamics smartsat handled pulse oximetry analyzer includes an Electrical SpO2 Simulator and Pulse Oximeter Probe Analyzer in a small, portable system. It is the company’s second-generation handheld SpO2 analyzer. Biomeds use SmartSat to maintain pulse oximeters, pulse oximeter probes and patient monitoring equipment. SmartSat uses electrical simulation, which manufacturers say is more accurate than an optical simulator. According to Nellcor’s OEM support manager, ““Electrical simulation is the most accurate and controlled method of testing a pulse oximeter. SmartSat is the only commercially available electrical SpO2 Simulator that tests Nellcor Oximax technology. We suggest it to our OEM partners as our quick check electrical simulators are designed for spot checks and are not designed for the needs of our OEM partners.”

SmartSat includes an SpO2 optical finger option and is certified by Masimo for testing Masimo Rainbow Pulse Oximetry Technologies. It is the only manufacturer certified simulator with accurate SpO2 R-Curves. Manufacturers such as Nellcor, Criticare, Datascope, Philips, GE, Welch Allyn and Alaris also use the SmartSat. The second-generation tool includes updated connectors, test wires, shielding and optics. An internal NiMH battery or an external AC power adapter provide power to the SmartSat. The simulator has a high resolution graphical display, designed to be easier to red than traditional character displays.
