James M. “Jim” Fulton — one of the most prominent figures in Northeast Ohio’s medical imaging industry —died on Friday, Aug. 21, at the age of 62.

Fulton spent 28 years with Philips Healthcare’s medical imaging division in Highland Hills. He most recently served as senior vice president and general manager of its computed tomography division, which builds CT scanners.

The Hudson resident left Philips in 2011, but he didn’t leave the medical imaging industry. He spent the next three years as president of an imaging technology company called Imalux.

In January of this year, he became a CEO-in-residence at BioEnterprise, a Cleveland-based nonprofit that assists local health care companies. Executives in that role are tasked with finding a new medical technology and turning it into a company.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Jim Fulton,” said BioEnterprise CEO Aram Nerpouni. “Jim was a wonderful person with a wealth of industry knowledge. The Northeast Ohio biomedical community, and especially Jim’s colleagues at BioEnterprise, will miss his intellect, character and experience.”

The New Jersey native enjoyed fixing things, competitive swimming and taking his family out on his boat, according to his obituary.

The viewing takes place today, Thursday, Aug. 27, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Johnson-Romito Funeral Home, 19 E. Main St., Hudson. A funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 28, at St. Mary's Parish at 340 N. Main St. in Hudson, according to the obituary.
