InterMed Biomedical was recently recognized as a recipient of the SHARP award.

The On-site Consultation’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) recognizes small employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management program.

OSHA encourages employers to operate exemplary safety and health management systems. To reward such employers, OSHA allows those who meet a few basic eligibility requirements to become exempt from OSHA inspections for a period of not less than one year, with eligibility for a renewal if qualified.

InterMed received a 36-month exemption, which is the most any company has ever received, according to Keith Brown, a safety and health consultant. InterMed can renew after the 36-month period but must meet eligibility requirements.

There are four steps to SHARP:

Request a full-service comprehensive visit from USF SafetyFlorida and correct all hazards (serious and other-than-serious) identified by the consultant.
Implement and maintain a safety and health management system.
Score at least two on all 50 basic attributes of the Safety and Health Program Assessment Worksheet (OSHA Form 33).
Agree to notify USF SafetyFlorida prior to making any changes in working conditions or work processes that might introduce new hazards into the workplace.
InterMed Biomedical Services Inc. was founded in 1995 in response to a need in the industry for a customer-focused, third-party biomedical sales and service provider that could provide expert service and discounted prices to its customers. InterMed Biomedical’s administration has been with the company since it’s inception.

InterMed Biomedical has been steadily and organically growing since 1995, has been awarded by Inc. Magazine’s as one of the fastest-growing companies and has been recognized as the Gainesville Chamber of Commerce’s Overall Small Business of the Year award.
