EDISON, NJ – August 23, 2011 – Building upon their recently announced three-year Official Marketing Partnership, GE and the PGA TOUR today invited players and fans at The Barclays, the first event of the PGA TOUR Playoffs for the FedExCup, to explore the on-site healthymagination innovation pavilion, which highlights GE’s ongoing commitment to healthcare access, quality and efficiency around the world. Earlier this year, GE became the Official Medical Diagnostic Imaging Equipment and Electronic Medical Records Management Solutions Sponsor of the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour, while PGA TOUR members Jim Furyk and Sean O’Hair also joined GE as ambassadors for the healthymagination program.

Through five tournaments this season, over 3,000 fans and numerous PGA TOUR professionals have taken advanced body composition exams using the InBody system. These quick, painless scans provide detailed information on an individual’s percent body fat, lean muscle mass, segmental lean analysis, metabolic rate and more – and can help premiere athletes as well as weekend warriors stay at the top of their game and better understand how diet, lifestyle and exercise influence their body’s make-up.
Also available to PGA TOUR professionals at The Barclays, a fully digital body composition scan on GE’s clinical, prescription-use iDXA system (see picture) provides a crisp, high-resolution body image and a detailed report with specific amounts of lean and fat in each region of the body. Earlier this year at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard, dozens of PGA TOUR professionals received detailed iDXA scans; follow-up iDXA exams at The Barclays this week would enable those players to compare results as they seek to stay fit and maintain peak performance. iDXA scans at The Barclays will now also employ CoreScan* – a new GE technology dedicated to helping quickly and accurately quantify visceral “belly” fat. CoreScan can help patients and physicians tailor individualized health and wellness plans while addressing the growing threat of obesity-related disease.

The GE healthymagination pavilion will be open to fans at three more tournaments this season – including The Barclay’s this week, and the Deutsche Bank Championship and the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola later this year. The pavilion will feature interactive technology and activities, including:

  • Golf Swing Analyzer - Showcases the mechanics behind your golf swing, focusing on muscle use
  • Swing Upload Zone – Enables uploading of fans’ swing analyzer videos to Facebook and email
  • Body Composition Scanning – Provides a body composition analysis on GE's Lunar technology
  • Healthy You – Offers a self-guided educational experience that includes topics such as golf instruction, fitness and nutrition
