Malvern, Pa., October 7, 2011 – Oconee Medical Center in Seneca, S.C., the grand prize winner of Siemens Healthcare’s recent “Who Inspires You?” video contest, is celebrating the installation of its new MAMMOMAT® Inspiration, Siemens’ next-generation full-field digital mammography system. By winning a MAMMOMAT Inspiration, the small community hospital further extends its patient-centric approach, offering women such features as the soothing MoodLight™ LED light panel and the Opcomp® function, which applies compression only as long as the patient’s breast is soft and pliable, stopping at the point of optimal compression.

Winning the Inspiration was the catalyst behind Oconee’s new comprehensive Breast Care Center, a state-of-the-art digital mammography facility that opened Sept. 6. The opening was commemorated with a Sept. 20 ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house for Oconee employees and local residents.

“Winning the MAMMOMAT Inspiration inspired us to change how we offer breast care services to the women in our community, and we are thrilled with the addition of this state-of-the art digital mammography system,” said Blake Poleynard, MD, OMC, radiologist at Oconee Medical Center. “Many of our patients have inquired about the benefits of digital mammography, and now we are able to offer them this technology, which will help us provide the best possible care.”
