This month, Medical Dealer explores the latest trends in operating tables and lighting systems.

Trumpf Mars II operating table

The Trumpf MARS operating table provides functionality in a variety of disciplines. The 800-pound-capacity, ergonomic table can be integrated into OR management systems. There are eight models to choose from, varying by height, tabletop adjustment and drive. The basic version is ideal for spinal surgery, the company says, because it can be expanded with the Trumpf spinal cord positioning device. The low version is designed for operating in a sitting position, as in ophthalmology, ear, nose and throat and other disciplines.

Skytron 3501C operating table

Skytron’s EZ-Slide 3501C Surgical Table provides 700 pounds of lift, 600 pounds articulation and full-body imaging capability for general purpose procedures, reducing the need for multiple support accessories and easing patient set-ups. Additional features include 21 inches of top slide, a 45-inch high table height, battery power, a removable leg section and an optional Ortho Trax fracture attachment. The table comes with a backlit, one-touch pendant control. An optional carbon fiber leg section attachment is available, as well as a power or manual shoulder arthroscopy attachment. Split leg accessories and a full line of general purpose and bariatric table accessories are also available.

STERIS 5085 SRT operating table

The 5085 SRT is a crossover table that slides, rotates and transports patients throughout the perioperative area. A drive wheel allows a single caregiver to safely transport a patient from pre-op to OR to post-op without red-zone gurneys or trolleys. In pivot mode, the drive wheel locks and rotates 360 degrees, without support posts or weight calculations. A hand control with an LCD window telegraphs table-positioning data and allows one-touch patient posturing. The four-section tabletop articulates to a variety of patient postures. The 5085 table can be upgraded to the SRT at any time by adding the drive wheel and head section. Both tables are configured to enable ACT (Advanced Control Technology) software and are compatible with previously purchased STERIS accessories.

Skytron Nautilus LED surgical lights

Skytron’s latest surgical light, the Skytron Nautilus LED series fixed focus light (NT25, NT2525 and NT252525) is designed to give the surgeon intensity of up to 160,000 lux of cool, color correct, shadow free light in a simple design with no non-essential electronics or moving parts. The Nautilus LED surgical light is a cost effective, high performing, reliable alternative to halogen lights for users who do not require additional features.  Nautilus LED lights come in single, dual and triple configurations and can be combined with monitor arms and Skytron’s Ergon equipment management system.

Trumpf Trulight surgical lights

Trumpf’s new TruLight 5000 has improved lighting characteristics and a higher level of user comfort, the company says. The system has an illumination level of 160,000 lux, and Adaptive Light Control Plus technology, which is designed to optimize light distribution. The system’s sterile handle has sensors that adjust the intensity of the light. The flat, compact light head is designed for efficient use of space, while the integration of video systems for high-definition digital transmission provides a communication platform.
