Welch Allyn Rebate Program Designed to Help Clinicians Offset EHR Interface Fees

realVITALization promotion includes select monitors and vital signs devices purchased with pulse oximetry option

Fri Apr 20 2012By Welch Allyn

Skaneateles Falls, NY, USA, April 19, 2012— Welch Allyn, a leading global provider of frontline medical products and solutions, today announced its realVITALization promotion for Connex® Integrated Wall Systems (Connex IWS), Connex® Vital Signs Monitors (Connex VSM), and Spot Vital Signs® LXi devices that are purchased with a Masimo SET® or Nellcor™ pulse oximetry (SpO2) option. The program offers a $400 rebate for the Connex IWS, $350 rebate for the Connex VSM and a $250 rebate for the Spot Vital Signs LXi.

“Welch Allyn vital signs devices and monitors are able to connect directly with electronic health records (EHRs), which many clinicians are implementing in order to help their practice achieve Meaningful Use and ease patient care,” said Steve Kenan, senior manager of United States and Canada Ambulatory Care marketing. “However, many new users do not realize most EHR companies require an interface fee to connect devices to their EHR system. Our realVITALization program is a turnkey solution intended to help clinicians offset this connection fee so they can reinvest that money into their practice.”

The company’s realVITALization promotion will begin on May 1, 2012, and run through July 31, 2012. The program is open to ambulatory care customers in the United States.

Connex® Integrated Wall System

The Connex IWS incorporates nearly 100 years of innovation into one unit. The system features traditional Welch Allyn physical assessment instruments—an integrated ophthalmoscope and otoscope—combined with twenty-first century vital signs assessment technology from the Connex VSM.

By incorporating Connex VSM technology into the Connex IWS, the wall unit can be configured for spot-check, monitoring with intervals or triage modes and is ideal for sites using an EHR system. The customizable wall system supports both Welch Allyn and its manufacturing partners’ technology, and the open architecture enables facilities to protect their investment, as upgrades and new technology can be added as they become available.

Connex® Vital Signs Monitor

The Connex VSM is a full-color, touch screen device that acts as three devices in one providing comprehensive patient documentation on a single display. This documentation includes automatic measurements such as heart rate, blood pressure, temperature and SpO2; manual parameters such as respiration, height, weight and pain level; and modifiers such as body position, O2 therapy details and others. The Connex VSM also gives the clinician the ability to control alarms, patient data and monitoring in a customized manner for each patient, and he or she can document this data right on the device—eliminating the need to locate a PC and transcribe it later.

The Connex VSM significantly reduces time spent on manual transcription and instances of human error and has the ability to automatically transfer data to an EHR. Plus, it offers the ability for patient vital signs to be viewed anytime, anywhere on a network.

Spot Vital Signs® LXi

Welch Allyn Spot Vital Signs LXi devices can be customized for use in a variety of clinical settings. Its speed comes from SureBP™ blood pressure technology, which measures on inflation, taking accurate blood pressure readings in approximately 15 seconds. The Spot Vital Signs LXi offers temperature and SpO2 technology as well as a number of other features including manual weight, height, respiration rate and pain level entry; connection to select digital weight scales; Body Mass Index (BMI) calculation; and connectivity to EHR systems.
