In today’s edition of the MedWrench blog I want to highlight a guest blog provided by Dan Meiser, Director of Product Development at Elite Biomedical Solutions. Dan was kind enough to give me some insights on Elite Biomedical's Product Development and Design program. Elite Biomedical Solutions supports hospital biomed departments with new replacement parts, re-certified parts, and on-site service and repairs that keep clinical equipment performing at optimal levels. Elite is a great company and has always been willing to help out our MedWrench users whenever they can. See below for insights on Elite Biomedical's Product Development and Design program.

Insights on Elite Biomedical's Product Development and Design Program

Elite Biomedical strives to provide our customers the best alternative solutions when selecting OEM replacement components.  Prior to beginning any design work the Product Development Team studies and evaluates the entire Product assembly in addition to the individual part.  This allows the team to gain an understanding of the working relationship between all of the mating components.  Elite Biomedical Solutions has cutting edge technology at their fingertips to scan and measure each component along with state of the art CAD Software to create a precise replica 3D model.  This 3D model is then used to create the precision tooling required to produce a drop-in replacement part.  Elite uses a combination of visible light and laser scanners along with traditional gauging equipment to verify the design, complete the first article and perform final inspections. OEM components are sent to an outside, independent laboratory to determine the exact chemistry of each part.  Elite Biomedical uses this data to determine the appropriate resin that will provide equivalent or superior strength and chemical resistance.

The Product Development Engineers create a detailed Development Plan for each product to carefully monitor the project from concept to production release. The project team works with the Product Development Engineer to develop the product requirements and the resulting test and validation requirements.  Risk Analysis and Risk Mitigation are a vital part of the design and development process.

Before Elite’s products are released our factory trained Biomeds put the product through a rigorous testing regiment based on OEM standards.  This ensures that our replacement parts meet or exceed customer expectations.  EBS also completes additional testing to ensure the reliability of the product.

Elite Biomedical Solutions is registered with the FDA as a Manufacturer.  We are compliant with 21CFR820.  EBS is also ISO 13485:2003 and ISO 9001:2008 certified.
