Monitor collimator question

When viewing the image on the monitor the collimator blades are partially drawn in, in the horizontal position.  I am unable to get this to open or move to the vertical position. I am a state regulator and am attempting to pass this machine as fully operational.  Due to this issue, I am unable to measure the full collimator range and assure that it meets our rule.

I am also a RT and have worked extensivly with the 9800, so experience with the device isnt a issue.  Can you give me an idea as how to correct this issue?

You must have a laptop with the R UT software to access the Collimator at or calibration.

RUT/RUS is an essential software tool used to calibrate these systems....as for the collimator, there is a way around it but if you are not a seasoned Imaging Professional I do not recommend it.

This sounds like the machine is not fully functional. The 9800 Collimator has two sets of blades, an iris which limits the beam overall and sizes depending on the field size requested and a slot collimator used to selectively limit/block radiation in addition to the iris collimator blades. The slot collimator should be able to be rotated to the position desired as well as having the ability to set the width of the opening. It is NOT possible to offset the opening in the slot although there are some fluoro rooms with that ability.

If you can not move this collimator to either set the size or rotational position, the unit needs to be serviced. It is not a user settable function. The in-house, third-party or OEM needs to effect the repair and test the function. Current function is degraded.

Thank you. This is exactly what I thought. Being a registered tech. for over 40 yrs. I felt fairly familiar with this function. Now as a regulator, I needed to verify prior to issuing a non-compliance to the facility.
