when the unit is turned on the led comes on but it is dim and it is just blacked out squares. What is the problem and can I get the parts needed to fix this?

This could be a problem with just the display or it could be the main board. Can you still take an ECG and print it.
The EK10 is end of life and cannot be repaired by Mortara Instrument/Burdick/Quinton any longer.
