Does anyone have a tip or trick for removing the glyptal sealant from the IU22 power supply adjustment pots?

I usually just chip away at it with a sharp knife. (Yes, this can take a while.) Be VERY careful not to try turn turn the pot if there is sealant left on it. I have heard of instances of people ripping the pot right of the circuit board.
