IE 33 with flickering touch screens

I have an E cart with 6.0 software that intermittently has flickering touch screens. I have reseated cables and replaced the right touch screen w/o effect!

This could be signs of failing ground connection or possibly a bad video card, i would check connections on the video card and potentially swap it with the other card on the UMB, typically when you swap it solves the problem since only one port on the card fails at a time. the main display may stop working though and this would mean you would need a new video card.

feel free to call our technical support team any time, or check out our website for instructions to swap cards.

Check the brightness on the back of the LCD, I've seen that happen on two systems when the brightness is low the screen filckers, the other thing is that replacing the screen didn't help and the other screen is ok, if this doesn't work i'd chek the power in the back of the screens by swapping the power supplies between the screens and see if the issue follows the power source, if so you I'd replace the whole assembly

Good luck

Some more things to consider: The backlight inverter control is on the CPM. The brightness pot connects through the Control Panel Connector board. The video for the touch screens goes from one video card thru the PCI bus to the UAVIO, then to the CPM thru the CP Connector board.

If swapping the video cards does not change the symptom, measure the resistance of the grounding wire in the CP to UAVIO cable. I suggest checking the +5V on the CPM, with an oscilloscope if possible.  If all that is OK, the UAVIO, CPM and CP Connector boards are possible causes. AUE provides Hero Kits (and technical support) to our customers for situations like this.

A deep clean of the machine and the change of the thermal paste on the
graphics card and motherboard
processors might reduce this
issue.
