NX Software on Workstation not auto loading after login in

Hi Guys, I got two workstations with Windows 7 installed that developed a strange behaviour the first thing on the morning after a cold boot, or every time it cold boots.

After login in, it shows the NX Software logo and it stays there for about 20 min withouth finishing loading, then it shows an error saying that the NX has found an error and it closes.

But oddly enough, if I use the built in script "Restart NX Completely", the software starts normally. Even after changing users by login off and on starts the NX fine, but withouth previously "Restarting the NX Completely" it won´t load.

I did notice that on the Windows Services, the NXWorkstation services doesn´t start either, even though is set to Automatic.

Also, using the Task Manager to close the hanged application, then starting the service manually and then double clicking the NX Viewer icon starts the application fine.

I have the feeling is something between Windows itself, but, what could it be?

This is usually a timing issue with NX, which version are you currently running. I would recommend updating to 8900 which is available on mednet.

One of the NX services doesn't start in a timely manner.

I have also had this happen with a corrupt user account which will cause NX to hang forcing you to restart nx completely.

If it is a corrupt user account, remove the account and then re-add the account.

Also NX will get doggedly slow as the database starts to get filled with pt. info.

An 8500, and 8600, with some Defraggler over night daily and ccleaner they are running fine with over 1600 images on the D: drive. I got a client with over 4000 and still runs as day one, I believe defragmenting is the key on Windows based machines, and plenty of ram too :P .

Also, I was laid off from the company I was working two years ago, and have been freelance ever since, trying the keep the equipment running with little to no spare parts and software :/ , sometimes the local dealer helps but not as much as they also suffer from shortage of foreign currency.

I discovered something that makes sense with the quantity of the images inside the NX. Both NX I have talked about earlier do load now the NX software fine IF I programm the bios to wake up the machine everyday at 6:30am, since the businesses open up at 8:00am, there must be something that takes quite a long time to load to make the NX available to run. Now, I haven´t done anymore experimentation, since I am waiting for Summer time to dig deeper but is kinda weird that this is happening. Could be a bug or something related to the quantity of images stored, but in the end is Windows related, because other NX´s don´t exhibit the same problem and have WAY more images stored.

And I KNOW that the NX is not a storage station, but clients are like that and you know it guys :).

Use Hiren's defragler.....something in the program is not starting when it should or cannot be found in a timely manner.....I would try defragging it first then possibly run some anti-virus check and CC cleaner.

Defraggler scheduled at evening/night and also setup to shutdown the machine after is done.

What I did recently was to do a check disk on both partitions, and apparently that improved and kinda solve the issue. Don´t know why since the raid array wasn´t showing any errors but as you know, Windows is Windows. :P
