Limited X-ray view

Recently our C-arm only consistently only showed center view of the X-ray image with outer circle (about 50% diameter) of view all blocked. No error message given from theC-arm.

Anyone has any idea what's going on? Thanks.

Are the collimator blades in the way?

Yes, I believe collimator blades are in the way, which showed themselves around the border of the limited X-ray view.

Any idea what's wrong? How to resolve this problem?

Take off the tube cover and see if you are able to manually move the blades. If they are really easy to move then the motor is bad.

Yes, they are easy to move and spring works fine. What will take to replace this motor? Is Philips Service the best to do this repair?

Philips used to have an FCO for this issue but not sure if they still do. They may charge you for a new collimator. May be worth looking for a motor, or a used collimator. I could do the calibrations. Where are you located? Call Block Imaging. A few years back I used to change the motors for Philips but I think I remember them stopping giving out the motors.

We are in Seattle area.

I'll start to look for collimator motor.

Just a thought: if you just remove the spring, which returns collimator blades to close, can you keep those blads to maintain open?

Im sure you could but you do not want to do that. FDA frowns on that :)
