I am in a remote area of Guatmala. Our otoscope Welch Allyn 74710 will not light. I checked our power source- good. When turned on the indicater light does not come on and neither head will light. As there is no Circuit breaker or fuse. What is a likely possibility? It is the only scope we have and if a field repair is possible I would really appreciate the guidence.

Actually there should be a couple of 1/8 amp fuses on the board. RPI Parts in California carries replacement power boards for the 74710, What they do carry is at http://www.rpiparts.com/pdf/WelchAllyn0914.pdf
The indicator light may simply be a burned out neon bulb. But check the microswitches on the wand holders, it will only light up one at a time. If both are off-hook, neither one lights up.
Other than that I don't know what to tell you. I haven't had one in my hands in a few years. You might want to drop the folks at RIP an Email and see if they can help you out.

Thanks Ray. They only sell to suppliers and repair. I will email them and see if the can help me. The part pic they had shows the fuses, but the unit I have has only two transformers a capacitor and the switch.
