i have a passport 2 that has always worked fine , i came in today and the screen stays black but the cuff inflates and the spo2 works? i can print out a reading and it is normal but nothing shows up on the screen? can anyone tell me where to start ?
black screen
The first thing you can try is to see if the LCD signal and power connections have come loose somehow, which they shouldn't. If it's not that, it might be that the inverter has gone bad. Sometimes you can tell that it's a problem with the LCD and not the motherboard because you can still see very faint images on the monitor, but they're not backlit.
At any rate, you'll probably only be able to buy the entire LCD assembly and not individual components. If possible, you can try taking another monitor and temporarily swapping the screen sections to see if the problem follows the screen or the monitor. Installing an LCD assembly is pretty easy on a Passport 2 if I remember right.

There are some third party suppliers that sell the power inverter for the back light for that model of display. If you shine a flash light at an angle to the display, while blocking for glare you should be able to see a small portion of the image on the display. That will tell you your display is ok. It's just the back light power inverter.
FYI this unit is no longer supported by Datascope. But there are some parts on thier shelf. Once they are gone that's it.
