computer

The original computer that came with xray system is having an issue with video display. My IT guy replaced video board and did some other stuff and can't figure out what the issue is. He states I need to replace the computer. Agfa rep is quoting $4500 for the computer which I think is too much. Any suggestions where I can purchase a more affordable computer for my system?

Change the IT guy seriously. Buy a good quadcore or better with plenty of ram, plenty, a fast big hard drive. Has to be Intel, no chance to use AMD (software limitation). Then do a disk cloning with partitions and everything, resize if needed to use whole drive. Duplicate the MAC address on the new rig, install drivers accordingly and you should be good to go. Use Windows 7 Professional, best choice if you haveto reinstall, save your alf and xml files for configuration and licensing. But really, change the it guy :P

AGFA will not license a computer that they did not sell. So unless you buy the PC from them or a dealer you will not be able to get an ALF file. I have heard of people cloning the MAC address from the old PC so AGFA will not know that it is a new PC. Also it has to be a 32 bit operating system. I don't see why your current PC could not be fixed if it was just a video card issue.
