Fowler actuator failures.

So I have roughly 700 Stryker S3 med surge beds and have replaced 250 fowler actuators. Is anyone else seeing this issue? Also, the footboards fall apart and the IV poles fail daily...Thoughts?

We don't have 700 of them (whew!) but we have seen the fowler issue. Correct adjustment of the limit switches is critical otherwise the motor continues to spin after the bed has reached its physical stop position, both at 0 and 90. This of course causes the gears to snap inside the motor. :(

You can adjust the limits six ways to sunday and the gears still fail.. The problem is the plastic gears inside the actuator and until Stryker admits to a problem were stuck repairing the broken beds daily..

For these beds you need to adjust the limits so that the fowler does not go past 60 deg and that when it is flat that the pan-deck of the fowler has abit of play in it.

Are these the Model 3002 AC drives or the Model 3005 DC drives? Are just the motors failing, or are you seeing the black plastic CPR coupler breaking too?  I've seen some of those couplers break.  Have you?

You would think Stryker has fixed these issues...sadly no.
