Is adding 2 oz of propylene glycol a MUST in order to keep the micro temp LT, MODEL 749 disinfected?

The MicroTemp LT model 749 does not require Propylene Glycol it was a manufacturers suggestion.
The Decontamination procedure is to add 27 ml of household beach to the full reservoir run the device for five minutes then drain. Fill the device three times running it for five minutes each time then draining. After no bleach is detected refill with 873 ml of distilled/sterile distilled water. This should be repaeted quarterly at a minimum.
