3085SD Hand Control Flashing Low Battery LED

We have a 3085SD battery-powered operating table. During PM activities, with control ON, the low battery LED flashes red repeatedly even after the table has "charged" for 48 hours.

Has anyone had to replace the batteries on this unit? Are there two battery sets that must be changed? I have access to a 3085SP manual, but it doesn't identify how to replace batteries, only that two battery types exist ("gelled cell batteries (P93908-637, quantity = 2 and P136806-806, quantity = 2 battery-powered table only)."

Thank you.

Yes, it is fairly easy.

1 remove any screws that may be holding the bottom cover in place. it is usually in front near the power cord.

2 Raise the table 3/4 the way up on AC power

3 unplug the ac power.

4 lift the bottom cover either from the sides or ends. it could take 2 people but i have done it by myself.

5 you need to have a rope or a tie down strap with hooks to wrap over the table, ( not over the coushions ) either under the cover or hooked to balance the weight to hold the cover up.

this will expose the batteries and let your mechancical/ techincal juices flow from that point. Allen wrenches, plyers, screw drivers and small wrenches will get you through this part.

After you replace the batteries, you can lower the top enough to a point you can remove the rope or tie down, but not too much as to jam the rope or tie down under the cover.

The telescoping covers above the bottom cover may pop loose, if they are not the ones that have srews holding it together. theses are easily popped back together. at time the telescoping tabs and hooks come out of place. its a tab A goes under slot B thing.

do yourself a favor if there is hydrolic oil in the bottom, clean it up, and make sure the oil level in the sump is good.

good luck and have fun.

Yes there are two sets of batteries. The larger pair are the drive batteries, the smaller pair are the control batteries. Both sets are located right next to each other.

And as Matt D said, good luck and have fun.

Does your hand control AC power indicator light when table is plugged in? When you plug in the table you should hear a relay activate, if you don't hear it then you will not charge the batteries. Two input power selectors on the control box tend to get dirty contacts. With the table unplugged, give the switches a few twists back and forth with a screwdriver and set them back to the proper input voltage. After that you should hear the relay activate when you plug in the table and see AC indicator lit on hand control. You may still need new batteries if you haven't replaced them.
