Did you try a new exposure switch and cable first? If yes second check the cable from the CPU to the Filiment/KV bd.' if OK try CPU bd. Answered by R.Gerity via MES group

Error 459 is a Generator Fault. In detail it is that the KVP command feedback was low after command was output was output during prep cycle. In other words...during prep the cpu checked to see that there was sufficient voltage available to produce whatever desired KV the operator selected. G.E. recommended Checks are as follows: 1) Check connection to the filament / KVP board. 2) Check feedback circuitry 3) Check drive level from cpu to filament bd.. It should be around .069V.D.C. / KV selected. I would also: 1) Change selected KV and test for error. If there is no error at lower KV's then check/test the batteries and battery connections. 2) Look up the "taps" information for the selected KV and see if they are pulling in....you might also want to clean the relay taps contacts. (with power off of course) If we need to go into further T.S. we will, but check those things first and tell me what KV the error occured on and if I have time I will look up what taps (relays) should be engaged. Good Luck!!

Thank you for your time and information on the AMX-4. The fil bd did fail but replacement did not correct it. After a week of trials, cap bd and cpu, opted for x ray tube. No sparks thumbing fil strong but the new tube fixed the problem. I don't understand why the tube would cause the non kv cal's most tubes when going bad manifest themselves in known ways. This was a silent killer I guess. Thank you again for your kindness.

Strange result.... I wonder if the tube had minor spits resulting in the feedback error? Normally tube spits are registered under different errors and are pretty evident. Please let me know if any further similar problems occur. If you need any further help feel free to shoot me a e-mail....chris@rapidxray.biz Good job!!

The x-ray tube corrected the error and calibration issues. However two days later a new error appears 45A. This error occurs upon prep on any shot above 90 KV. It fails at prep at any attempt higher than 90 KV. This is a totally new error. Unit was easy to cal at tube change. I am without a clue how to check out the CPU circuits on this error. Thank you all for some great ideas and tech assistance on previous problems.

I kind of thought something would go wrong but didn't want to jinx it. 45A is directly tied into 459 with what you have been dealing with previously. Before you do ANYTHING with what the error suggests you do (I'll show the error details)check the following: 1)Check the version of the KV/Fil bd. you replaced and make certain it is the same version of that you had previously. Do this with everything you have replaced! 2) Check ALL connections to and from the CPU bd. and KV/Fil bd. 3) I would also check the High Volyage cables connections at both the tube and HV tank. (discharge the cables first) Ohm out the cables while twisting them to see if there is a bad wire in the cables. This is tedious work but something that shouldn't be overlooked! Did you replace the cpu board previously? I can't recall but if you did and you still have the old bd. (hopefully you haven't exchanged it yet) check the version of the bd.'s and ROM / cpu's. You may want to swap chips also to see if things change. 4) recalibrate the system gen. and see if you get any further errors during calibration like fil/kv bd. errors or taps errors. 5) Double check the batteries and taps relays as I suggested before. Since the unit is failing at higher kv demands it may not be seeing the Voltage required to make that exposure happen and dump you the error! Clean the taps contacts if dirty or pitted. GE's Recommendations are: (Error 45A: Leakage Comp. Feedback was low after the command was output during the prep exposure) 1) Check leakage comp feedback + and feedback - on sheet 5, location H of the CPU schematic. (if you need help with this let me know....I haven't done this in quite awhile) 2) Check connections on fil/kv bd. 3) Check drive levels from the cpu bd. to fil. bd.. It should be approximately oV at 50kv selected, .4V at 80KV selected and 1.3V at 125kv selected. 4) Check feedback circuitry. ( I need to look at this to see whats all there to look at for this particular signal) Let me know how things are going and what you are finding! Thanks....Chris 1)

thank you for reply. I am perty sure fil/kv board is same version. nothing is returned so will ck. i did replace CPU original version G4, they sent a G6, and G5. Will this be an issue? I used old ram chips and then new ones that came with board. no change in kv 90 above fail. should i take any other software chips off original bd. Will look at tank side tu. tube side good shape w/ new paste. Thinking of pulling batteries out and checking connections. no battery errors or drops out of range. could tank or cpu be an issue. original cpu still creates 459 when reinstalled. what do u ck on ht tank? the batteries perform well, cant detect bad cell of drop to be concerned. should replace 1khz or fil/kv again?
