Lifepak 10 Issue

I have a Physio Control Lifepak 10 defib with the following problem:  When I set the charge to any value the defib charges with more joules than the selected value: ex: 50j selected the units delivers and shows in the display 80j, I select 360j the units charges and shows 480 j, and 5j selected shows/deliver 17 j.  Any advice about this problem? Any solution?    Originally asked by J. Mello via TechNation listserv

A word of advice: experiment only at much lower joules settings and be prepared to remove all power quickly if charging does not stop. It is possible to explode the main cap! Double check the time and date: if unit cannot remember these it cannot remember calibration either. Answer provided by R.Cohan via TechNation Listserv

Check battery on PCB board.( Looks alike chip, this is memory). After, perform calibration. Originally answered by A. Denenberg via TechNation listserv

-i had repair almost the same problem, its giving up to 114 j  at 50j selected energy,  then eventually it will failed to discharge ..what i found is the U24 hybrid ic..control the high voltage capacitor charger function..sometimes yull find discoloration on the component.
