Lindon, UT (PRWEB) December 20, 2010 TransAmerican Medical Imaging (TMI) announced the release of the Spectre, a wireless foot switch and hand switch system for GE-OEC Series 9800 and 9900 mobile C-Arms, and the Philips Cardiovascular product line. “The TMI Spectre replaces the hard-wired foot and hand switches found on GE-OEC Series 9800™ and 9900™ systems, and on Philips fixed Cardiovascular systems,” according to TMI’s President, Bob Woodward. “The Spectre eliminates the most common problems found with wired controls: dirty and hard-to-clean cables on the floor, broken cables and it allows OR staff to operate a system from any convenient position near the X-Ray source. Since cables on the floor are also a tripping hazard, this new wireless technology is an effective safety improvement.” The Spectre wireless system will operate within a radius of 50 feet from a connected system. Since it is not infra-red, it does not have to be “line of Sight”. It will also operate for 20 consecutive hours without recharging. Recharging takes only 2-4 hours. “This project has been 5 years in the making. With UL, FDA and other required certifications completed, we are now ready to introduce this amazing new technology to the radiological world.” Paired using State-of-the-Art encryption technology, Spectre wireless switches “talk” only to the receiver with which it is mated, and will not interfere with other facility electronics. “Installation is also easy,” said Mr. Woodward. “Simply unplug your foot or hand switch from your C-Arm, and insert the Spectre’s receiver connector into the foot switch/hand switch socket on the C-Arm. Your Spectre wireless switch is ready to use.” Both the foot and hand switch are ergonomically designed to reduce operator fatigue and are easy to clean and decontaminate.
