FEATURES

Easy and efficient patient registration -
From the moment the patient arrives, IMPAX RIS has a role to play. Demographic information is imported from the Hospital Information System (HIS) or entered manually. Electronic orders for exams are immediately available, along with scheduling information. Relevant information by Agfa's Scheduling Module, or other scheduling and ordering systems, remains available during the entire workflow, avoiding duplicate data entry. IMPAX RIS can be used as a standalone or a fully integrated system, and efficiently handles emergency cases and walk-ins.

Comprehensive worklist management - The technologist's worklist provides an instant overview of the pending workload and direct access to the current exam. During the exam, information such as patient data, patient history and alerts is available to the technologist. Technologists can complete exam data and enter comments including use of consumables, contrast media, radiation dose and other specifics that are needed for correct quality management and billing. There is no need for duplication of data as IMPAX RIS seamlessly connects to modalities to allow smooth and secure distribution of patient demographic and procedure information.

Immediate overview of patient history -
With IMPAX RIS, a neatly presented chronological overview of the entire patient history, previous reports and order/exam details is available to radiology technical and administrative staff. This timely information is important for radiology support staff and helps them render an invaluable service to clinicians who may enquire for information about their patients.

Hassle-free viewing and reporting -
As soon as the exam is completed, the radiologist can report the findings. IMPAX RIS features desktop integration with Agfa's IMPAX and other Picture Archive and Communication Systems (PACS). With a click of the mouse, the radiologist selects the exams for interpretation, views current and prior images, accesses patient data and clinical notes and dictates results, all from a single workstation. All relevant patient and exam information - patient data, visit information, relevant priors, reporting history and scanned documents - is available on a single, separate monitor. With this bi-directionally synchronized RIS/PACS integration, data only needs to be entered once to be transmitted throughout the system.

Fast and easy transcription - Transcriptionists can retrieve the list of reports to be typed out with just a click of a button. Manual input is minimized thanks to custom report templates and standard text formats. After transcription, reports are sent to the radiologists for validation and signature.

Flexible and secure results distribution - Results can be distributed as customized templates, faxed and/or e-mailed to referring physicians and other interested parties. The IMPAX RIS supports output management services (OMS) including both routine batch distribution and on-demand distribution of results. The IMPAX RIS can also provide the results to the hospital's EPR through HL7 (Health Level Seven) interfaces.

Accurate and automatic billing - IMPAX RIS captures billing data, including consumables used during the exam process. By supporting CPT-4 and ICD-9 codes that are sent to the billing system immediately after the exam is finished, IMPAX RIS significantly shortens billing time and ultimately speeds up revenue cycles.

Extensive integration and communication options - IMPAX RIS can be used in any hospital: it performs just as well in small hospitals as it does in multi-facility university hospitals. Based on the Health Level Seven (HL7) standard, it can exchange messages relating to ADT, orders, appointments, results and billing with the HIS, PACS, digital modalities (DICOM based) and other systems.
