Alpha Source, Inc., a global medical equipment parts distributor, donated over $350,000 in retail value of medical replacement parts to Samaritan’s Purse, an organization dedicated to providing aid to victims of war, disease, disaster, poverty, famine, and persecution. The fiscal 2011-2012 donation consisted of various defibrillator service parts. The replacement parts will be used to repair lifesaving medical equipment in hospitals and clinics around the world.
“The parts donated by Alpha Source are going to be extremely valuable to Samaritan’s Purse and the mission hospitals we serve as we repair equipment that can save lives,” said Michael Rickman, a biomedical equipment technician for Samaritan’s Purse. “The real scope of Alpha Source’s donation is immeasurable. These parts can literally impact thousands of lives across the globe in places that promote healing not only physically but spiritually.”
According to Norine Carlson-Weber, president of Alpha Source, “We hope our donations can help accelerate the repairs of down medical equipment to help save as many lives as possible. We are proud to be able to contribute to such a great cause and look forward to continuing our relationship with Samaritan’s Purse.”
Alpha Source has been involved with Samaritan’s Purse since 2007. In addition to donating valuable medical equipment parts, Alpha Source also participates in Operation Christmas Child, a Samaritan’s Purse project that hand delivers shoe box gifts to underprivileged children worldwide to let them know they are loved and not forgotten.
Alpha Source supports various medical mission charities including the International Child Heart Foundation, Friends of the Orphans, The Luz Fund, Seattle Anesthesia Outreach, and the TriMedx Foundation.
Samaritan’s Purse, based in Boone, N.C., is an international Christian relief organization that responds to the physical and spiritual needs of individuals in crisis situations - especially in locations where few others are working. Samaritan's Purse works in more than 100 countries to provide aid. Each year, the medical arm of Samaritan’s Purse places hundreds of doctors, dentists, and other medical professionals in voluntary, short-term service with hospitals and clinics in the world’s least developed countries. The project also provides overseas hospitals with critically needed medical equipment and supplies.
