The global market for ECG monitoring equipment continues to expand steadily – right along with the increasing prevalence of cardiovascular diseases. As a result, Global Industry Analysts predicts the market for ECG telemetry devices alone to reach $1.25 billion by 2015, citing an aging population and increasing incidence of cardiovascular diseases as driving factors.

Chest pain clinics are opening across the U.S., and technological advances promise accuracy, increased remote monitoring capabilities and early detection of changes in patient status. With most hospitals moving towards computerization for maintaining electrocardiogram (ECG) records, investment in data management systems continues to account for a major share of hospital budgets. Rising expenditure and scarcity of alternative home care resources and services are expected to add to the growing demand.

Advances in technology, such as improvement in algorithms and wireless technologies, are enabling further growth in the ECG telemetry devices market.
