Social Media is Here to Stay!

Not only does social media give marketers a voice and a way to communicate with customers and potential consumers, but it also personalizes your "brand" and helps you to spread your message in an extremely relaxed and conversational way.

In my opinion, social media is becoming one of the most important aspects of a digital marketing campaign. Not only does social media give marketers a voice and a way to communicate with customers and potential consumers, but it also personalizes your "brand" and helps you to spread your message in an extremely relaxed and conversational way.

For social media to be successful, it must be part of your company’s every day routine in order to keep the momentum and attention you need for it to be successful.

So, what role should social media play in your marketing strategy? Marketing is merely a tool we use to inform consumers about our products, who we are and what we offer. Social media does that in a much more direct and casual way. Here’s how:

  • Social media can provide an identity for who your company is and the products or services that you offer.
  • Your company can also create relationships using social media with people who might not otherwise know about your products or service or what your companies represent.
  • Social media makes you "real" to consumers. Social media allows you to connect with your followers and share your personality with them.
  • You can use social media to associate yourselves with your peers that may be serving the same target market.
  • Social media also allows you to communicate and provide the interaction that consumers look for.

So, as you can see social media does in fact have value, but can it stand alone as your only digital media marketing avenue? Here are a few tips for how to run your digital marketing campaign

  • You MUST integrate social media with other vehicles of marketing. While social media will in fact create awareness, it cannot be the only driving force for your company, at least not right away.
  • Be yourself and reflect your personality through your social media outlets. There are no definitive "right" or "wrong" rules when it comes to social media, so be yourself and don’t hesitate to try new things.
  • Be consistent. It is important that you are consistent with updates. If you only post on your social media outlets 1x a month, you are essentially wasting your time.  Repetition is key for branding.
