In today’s edition of the MedWrench blog, I would like to feature our HTM Week contest winner, Matt Du Vall, as the featured “Guru of the Month”. Matt is one of our oldest MedWrench users and is very active on the forums. Without users like Matt sharing their knowledge and expertise, the forums wouldn’t be the powerful tool that they are today. Thank you for everything that you do to help our MedWrench users Matt!

How long have you been a member of MedWrench?
I have been a member of MedWrench for 4 years now. I was first introduced to MedWrench in Napa, CA at the MD EXPO in 2011. I instantly felt that I needed to be a part of it.
What aspect of MedWrench do you utilize the most?
I love the 2 way exchange of information the forums.
What, if any, new features would you like to see on MedWrench?
The only feature I would like to see change is, publishing the information companies see as proprietary (the manuals). The manual should be published. The customers buy the product which entitles them to the information, hence, the information (barring the warranty period) has already been sold and can be sent to those who might need it for that company’s equipment. Some of these units the company no longer supports. If the customer wants someone other than the OEM to repair the unit, that’s up to the customer. They assume the liability for that decision. That decision is usually related to cost. Some of these OEM’s simply want too much money for their services. The second hand owners and smaller offices are kind of getting cheated. If they could afford new, they would by new.
Where are you currently employed? What is your position there?
I started working for Treasure Valley Hospital in Boise, ID in October 2014. It’s an ASC that’s been growing since October 1996. I am the Biomedical Technician/Plant OPS assistant. Prior to working at Treasure Valley Hospital, I had been doing contract/third party work since June 2009.
What are your hobbies?
I love to wander in large open areas looking for whatever I have a permit to harvest “hunting”. I enjoy reloading various bores of ammunition and I am always testing my consistency on the shooting range with different recipes for my weapons.

What is one word that describes you the best?
Willing. I am willing to learn more about everything that I am responsible for in this career that I have chosen.
