Dedicated Imaging Solutions will host a two-week 12x MRI training class April 17-28. Bill Burke with Service Support Solutions will be the instructor.

Those interested in attending can email eshanks@dedicatedis.com to book a spot. The deadline to sign up is March 1.

The MRI training course is as follows:

1. Section One: MRI Theory and Operation

  • MRI Safety, Magnetic field safety, and cryogenics safety
  • Basic MRI Physics
  • Basic scanner operation and phantom scanning
  • MRI hardware overview

2. Section Two: PM Procedures

This section reviews all of the routine tuning procedures required for keeping the scanner operational. In addition to the mechanics of how to use the tools and perform the procedures, the underlying theory behind each procedure is explained.

  • Eddy Current Compensation
  • Gradient Calibration
  • Electrical Iso-Center Calibration
  • RF Power Output Calibration
  • Echo Planar Tuning
  • Data Backups

3. Section Three: Troubleshooting
This section digs more deeply into the specifics of the scanner architecture and hardware theory. Communications paths are reviewed and hardware interconnects are explained. Students are shown the diagnostics that are available to them within the basic software package, and taught to make the use of the wealth of service information that is provided in the scanner’s error logs. Hardware bugs are employed, and students work in groups to use the troubleshooting tools that are available to them, reinforcing troubleshooting techniques.
