In today’s edition of the MedWrench blog, I would like to feature Aaron Fischer as our “Guru of the Month”. Aaron is a very active member of the MedWrench forums and is a big help to our Imaging Community. You may have seen him answering questions under the username BMET-KY, so if he has ever helped resolve any of your equipment issues be sure to thank him! MedWrench is thankful for all of our users and we appreciate the extra mile you are all willing to go in order to help one another troubleshoot errors on your equipment. Thank you for everything that you do to help our MedWrench users Aaron!

How long have you been a member of MedWrench?

I have been a member since February 2012.

What aspect of MedWrench do you utilize the most?

The most utilized portion of Medwrench I use would have to be the forums. I utilize the forums both looking for solutions and offering help to others in need.

Are you aware that MedWrench now has a mobile site? If so do you use it from your smart phone or tablet?

I am aware of the mobile site and primarily use Medwrench from my smart phone.

What do you like most about MedWrench?

There is a lot to like about the site. I am partial however to the extensive equipment list, forums, resources, and articles.

What do you think about the new version of MedWrench for your desktop? Are they any changes you think we should make? If so, what are they?

I like the new desktop version. The new interface feels more refined than the previous edition.

Where are you currently employed? What is your position there?

I am currently employed as a Clinical Engineering Specialist at St. Elizabeth Healthcare located in Northern Kentucky.

What type of equipment do you work on the most?

I work on almost all aspects of imaging equipment. Primarily however, I work on ultrasound, CT, and General X-ray.

In your current position do you purchase parts?

Yes, quite often.

What is your role in the process?

My role in the process is identifying the need for a part, researching OEM or third party options, and then submitting the purchase requisition to our Purchasing Department.

What are some of the best aspects of your job?

I love the daily challenges and variety of work. One day you may be doing computer related work and the next grinding and cutting steel to fabricate a new part.

What are your hobbies?

Between work and family there isn’t a whole lot of time for hobbies. I spend most of my free time playing with my daughters (1 and 4). We enjoy going to the Zoo and local parks. I also enjoy working around the house and I will soon be starting the process to finish my basement. I have been on a few fishing trips to Alaska and Canada though and try to get out to play a few rounds of golf throughout the year.

What is one word that describes you the best?

Determined
