In today’s edition of the MedWrench blog, I would like to feature Jeff Majors as our “Guru of the Month”. Jeff is a very active member of the MedWrench forums and is a big help to our Imaging Community. You may have seen him answering questions under the username El Jefe, so if he has ever helped resolve any of your equipment issues be sure to thank him! MedWrench is thankful for all of our users and we appreciate the extra mile you are all willing to go in order to help one another troubleshoot errors on your equipment. Thank you for everything that you do to help our MedWrench users Jeff!

Jeff Majors

How long have you been a member of MedWrench?
Around 5 Years.

What aspect of MedWrench do you utilize the most?
I like the Ultrasound Forums that pertain to systems I know well and to new systems where I can gather technical information from other MedWrench users along with posted manuals.

Are you aware that MedWrench now has a mobile site? If so do you use it from your smart phone or tablet?
I occasionally use MedWrench on my phone to look things up while onsite repairing an ultrasound system.

What do you like most about MedWrench?
I like the grass roots approach of sharing information and solving problems with the assistance of my peers. As Independent dealers, we are often shut out from important information from the OEM’s who essentially “won’t let us work on our own cars”.

There is a movement to persuade the OEM’s to be more open source with important access to diagnostics and technical information that will benefit everyone. I will share the link to this website when it becomes available to me, so everyone who is an Independent service provider can voice their opinion.

What do you think about the new version of MedWrench for your desktop? Are there any changes you think we should make? If so, what are they?
I like the new formatting and easier access to systems and relevant documentation. I will have to report back as I use this new system.  I would like to see more service manuals posted if possible.

Where are you currently employed? What is your position there?
I work for myself after 20+ years with the OEM’s. My company is Pinnacle Medical Imaging based out of San Diego, CA.

What type of equipment do you work on the most?
I work on pretty much any Ultrasound system that comes my way. This includes the big 3 of GE, Philips, Siemens along with Medison, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sonosite, Sonoscape, HP and Alpinion.

In your current position do you purchase parts?
Yes I frequently purchase parts and usually put out a dealer blast to 30+ dealers who may have what I need. I take into account the MedWrench sponsors as well as the small Independents like myself.

What is your role in the process?
As owner of my company I perform most tasks related to procuring parts. I do take into account the refurb process of the parts supplier as well as the competitive prices that I am presented.

What are some of the best aspects of your job?
After leaving the large OEM’s I realize that I now enjoy even more, developing relationships with customers and providing the best possible service with a quick response time. I also enjoy solving challenging service issues using high quality replacement parts in a timely and efficient manner.

What are your hobbies?
I enjoy cooking, hiking, traveling, kayak fishing, walking my dog, photography, music and sports.

What is one word that describes you the best?
It would have to be persistent. As my wife would say “You are very persistent”. My interpretation of this comment is I work very hard to solve a customer’s Ultrasound system issue even when others tell me the problem can’t be solved.
