In today’s edition of the MedWrench blog I would like to highlight a brief Q&A with MedWrencher Tim Nagel. Tim recently reached out to MedWrench in hopes that we would sponsor his organization’s charity bowling team. Of course, we were pleased to oblige! See below for a quick Q&A with Tim!

How long have you been a member of MedWrench?

I have been a MedWrench member for about 3-4 years now. Love the site.

What aspect of MedWrench do you utilize the most?

Besides the manuals and Q&A forums, I appreciate the Bulletin Board. It helps to keep me up to date on Continuing Education and upcoming webinars to attend!

Where are you currently employed? What is your position there?

I currently work at Monroe Clinic in Monroe, WI where I am a Coach of Biomedical Engineering. monroeclinic.org

Is your bowling team a work team? Or just a group of friends?

It is both. I bowled with my work team who also happen to be good friends. There are 4 of us in the department. Dave Gersbach, Pete Blum, Gabe Phillips and myself.

What made you want to wear a MedWrench shirt as your team jersey?

This year we were asked to come up with a theme and costumes to make it fun. We had seen the request in TechNation to vote for the MedWrench Shirt. We reached out to see if MedWrench would donate shirts to our cause. Our team name was the "Wrench Heads".  We didn't win best costume but we did have a great time for a good cause.

What was this event in regards to?

It's called "BOWL FOR KIDS' SAKE". It's an annual fundraiser that BBBS puts on. Enough teams from the hospital contribute and bowl that 3 different time slots are needed to accommodate all teams. https://bbbsgreencounty.org/events/bowl-for-kids-sake/

What is Big Brothers Big Sisters?

The website can do a much better job explaining than I can.  https://bbbsgreencounty.org/

Was this a one time event for Big Brothers Big Sisters or will the "Wrench Heads" take part again?

This is an annual fundraiser that BBBS does with the organization. The bowling alley donates use of the lanes and other departments in the organization create teams to raise money for BBBS. We aren't in a bowling league unfortunately but this is an opportunity to get out and enjoy time with co-workers and raise money for a great cause. We will certainly take part again next year!

What was the set-up for this event? Were registration fees donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters? Or did you raise money by bowling high scores?

We asked friends, coworkers and family for donations. People could give donations based on score but we felt better asking for the donations outright. None of us on the team are exceptionally strong bowlers and thought we would raise more by asking for the cash upfront.

How can other MedWrencher’s donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters?

I would suggest checking out your local county chapter. The main website for BBBS is www.bbbs.org
