Trisonics Donates Ultrasound to Project Cure

When Brent Lecheler, a Harrisburg resident and Project C.U.R.E. volunteer, and John Steffen get together, good things happen. In early September John notified Brent that Trisonics had several older ultrasound machines available for donation. The wheels began to turn. Brent notified Project C.U.R.E. headquarters in Denver and its nearest distribution center in West Grove, PA.

George Hatzfeld, another volunteer, brought the Project C.U.R.E. truck to the Trisonics location on Walnut Street in Harrisburg, where Brent arrived to help load 11 units along with enough probes for all. Once John asked Derek Holley and Eric Stupp to lend a hand the truck was soon loaded was on the way to the Project C.U.R.E. warehouse. John explained that other technical team members, Ryan Zuch, Fred Hui and Autumn Rumsey had helped clean and inspect the donated units as well.

Both George and Brent expressed great appreciation for the donation commenting, "An ultrasound is one of many vital diagnostic and treatment pieces of equipment we try to send with each 40-foot ocean-going container," George, a hospital assessor, said. “Project C.U.R.E. averages more than 150 containers per year, sent to hospitals and clinics in developing countries. Imaging equipment is a constant need and a consisten request. This equipment will save many lives." 

Brent Lecheler is a firm believer in making friends for Project C.U.R.E. and keeping strong relationships. Brent and his wife Doreen left the Denver area in 2004 and settled in Harrisburg, PA, where Brent’s work with the security firm ADT took him. This is where the couple’s connections with Project C.U.R.E. resulted in a partnership with Mission Central, a Methodist Church initiative that collects and distributes a wide variety of materials placed in their Mechanicsburg warehouse for various church sponsored programs.  Over the years, Brent has become something of a magnet for donated medical materials and equipment. It was partially due to his demonstration that good used medical equipment and supplies were abundant in the Middle Atlantic states that Project C.U.R.E. decided in 2015 to establish a new collection and distribution warehouse in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Brent’s connections throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania, New York State, Connecticut and Maryland have yielded treasure troves of donated equipment and supplies. The Trisonics donation is a blessing, Brent would say, and he would shrug off any personal involvement. But good donations are the result of trust in relationships, and Brent knows his friends at Trisonics can depend on Project C.U.R.E. to extend their mission of excellence, integrity and experience across borders and boundaries.
