This week's edition of the MedWrench Blog is about the "My Bench" feature, and how you can utilize it to the fullest extent!

What is My Bench?

You can consider My Bench your very own, personalized, digital workbench! It is exclusive for MedWrench users only, and allows you to track specific equipment, categories, and manufacturers that you are interested in. By tracking these, they will appear on your My Bench feed, giving you access to updates, articles, newsfeeds, and any related discussions on the forums. You can access My Bench by initially signing in to your MedWrench account and selecting "My Bench," or at any time by clicking the avatar icon, and selecting "My Bench."

What's On My Bench?

When you initially open up your My Bench you will see "My Community Feed" this will include all Q&A forum posts, equipment updates, articles, and manufacturer updates related to your items. "My Discussions" will feature all of the Q&A forums that you have posted on, which is especially beneficial for ongoing discussions as it makes them easy to find. "My Equipment" shows you all of the products that you have subscribed to; these are usually products that you frequently work with, or that you are interested in learning more about. When you click "Subscriptions" you can see the equipment, categories and manufacturers that you are subscribed to, as well as FDA Alerts and Newsletters.

How Do I Add to My Bench?

Adding equipment to your bench is easy! When browsing MedWrench you will see "Add to My Bench" buttons. By clicking these buttons, you will bookmark whichever equipment, category or manufacturer you choose. You can then view these on your My Bench feed. From within your My Bench, you can add equipment by using the My Equipment tab or Subscriptions by searching for your equipment, category or manufacturer. When you find your equipment, you can specify how often you want to receive summary e-mails, Q&A notices, and whether or not you want this item displayed in your Community Feed. When you choose to receive e-mail updates for your My Bench items you will get notifications whenever there has been new or updated activity.

How Do I Remove Items From My Bench?

There are two ways to remove items from your bench. Start by going to "My Equipment," then find the equipment you wish to remove. Once you have located the equipment you will see a drop-down arrow on the right side of the equipment listing, click it and select Settings. When you have selected Settings you will have the option to adjust your current settings for that equipment (e-mail frequency, Q&A notices, etc.), but you can also select "Remove Subscription," which will remove it from your bench. You can also remove equipment by going to the Subscriptions section and selecting "Settings" next to the equipment you wish to remove.

Why Should I Use My Bench?

My Bench is a great feature, as you are able to more closely keep track of the equipment, manufacturers and categories that you work with every day. Being able to follow forum posts, and answer when you are able to, is not only beneficial for you, but the whole MedWrench community. In return for your participation, you receive help from other MedWrench users should you need it, and up-to-date information on the products that you're interested in to keep you "in-the-know."
