Learn about The Study Forum from this question and answer session with Jewel Newell, the President and Co-Founder of The Study Forum. If you have to study for the CBET, CRES, or IT topics, you should be using The Study Forum! This unique website offers a completely new way to study and prepare with experts.

1. What is The Study Forum and who should be using it?

The Study Forum is an online platform designed with the Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) and IT professional in mind. It was created to assist with the preparation of CBET, CRES, and IT certification testing, and to be a continual resource for technicians to keep their knowledge base congruent with industry standards.  With this forum, we are focused on supporting the future students and graduates of B.R.I.T. Technical Institute, the Biomedical, Diagnostic Imaging, and Information Technology Technicians in the field, and educators who would like to use this site as a resource for materials.  By joining The Study Forum, users will have the opportunity to refresh their knowledge in Anatomy and Physiology, Electronics Theory, Troubleshooting Techniques, Medical Devices and Test Equipment.  It is a place for technicians to challenge themselves, and to grow from that challenge.

2. What is the overall goal and mission of The Study Forum? What makes it different?

The overall goal of The Study Forum is to keep HTM at the forefront, and establish it as a needed asset to the healthcare organizations we serve. The mission of The Study Forum is to be an added value and ready resource to the HTM and IT communities.  We hope to accomplish both by using actual instructors on our forum, and not just people who are already certified. Taking nothing from those that are certified and are dutiful in preparing others, but we believe that it allows the technicians to participate in a continuing education environment. Not a situation where they passed the test and they are finished, but a place to keep their critical thinking skills fresh.

Users of the forum have an annual membership, so they can come and learn, watch a video, or test their competencies with the category quizzes, at no additional charge. By engaging in The Study Forum, the technician will maintain a solid foundation in healthcare safety protocols, compliance and regulatory, electronics and electricity, troubleshooting techniques, and networking.

Through diligent preparation for the Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Radiology Equipment Specialist (CRES), and Information Technology Networking + and CompTIA Exams, and passing said exams, users will improve upon their employment opportunities and professional development in the HTM and IT fields.

3. What resources does The Study Forum provide to those studying for the CBET, CRES, or IT Certification?

In addition to the study materials, pre and post quizzes, credible videos, and peer chat discussion rooms, we also offer reminders in regards to testing opportunities, the latest articles pertaining to the HTM field, category cumulative exams to test comprehension, links to schedule exams at a designated testing site, updated class information for preparation, and a knowledgeable moderator to answer any questions that may arise.

4. Can you take the CBET, CRES, or IT Certification exam on The Study Forum? How do you get results?

No, each user also has access to the link for the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) website which will allow them to schedule for testing at a site nearest to them. Upon the completion of the exam, testers are informed about their results directly from the AAMI site.

5. What is a Forum Moderator and how are they chosen?

A Forum Moderator is the Ambassador and the Guide for the selected forum page. The moderator provides instruction, promotes deep discussion, and answers any questions that may arise out of the lessons or discussions. They are chosen by their experience, background, as well as, their passion to help others to become successful in their career fields.
