August Guru of the Month - Bill Lee

1. How long have you been a member of MedWrench?

I believe that I have been a member of MedWrench for six years now.

2. What aspect of MedWrench do you utilize the most?

What I like most about it is when other engineers anywhere in the world can ask questions concerning the issues that they are having with their equipment.  And if I can help out in anyway by answering their questions, give tips, or send whatever manual that I may have just makes for a better day.

3. Are you aware that MedWrench now has a mobile site? If so, do you use it from your smart phone or tablet?

I only have a laptop that goes with me wherever I go.  So I do not have a tablet.

4. What do you like most about MedWrench?

What I like about MedWrench is that sometimes I have questions and I can get my questions answered through MedWrench. Being able to help others when I can but also having information available when I need help.

5. Where are you currently employed? What is your position there?

I am employed through Aramark Technologies.  And work at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan.  I am an Imaging Specialist Engineer.  I work on everything from general x ray machines to ultrasound machines to the cath labs.  So a little bit of everything for the imaging field.  We have to maintain and repair all of the imaging equipment for all of Sparrow Hospital and its off site clinics.  So we do order a lot of parts when needed.

6. What are your hobbies?

My main hobby is my family.  We have traveled from one side of the country to the other a few times.  I have one son that is in the Army Air National Guard.  Two daughters that keep their mother and I quite busy with school band and sports.  One special needs son that has been in the Special Olympics.  He loves wrestling and basketball.  And my oldest son who is a single parent raising our granddaughter. My other hobbies are sports and riding my Harley Davidson.

7. What advice do you have to anyone just graduating and entering into the HTM field?

My advice for the people just graduating and entering into the HTM field.  Well, do not stop taking classes if you want to stay in this field of choice.  The technology is always going to improve.  Once you stop, you will fall behind and be left.  I enjoy it.  I have heard the good and the bad stories from the patients and doctors after I have finished repairing their equipment.
