This course focuses on the major system components that makeup the Definition AS system platform; specifically covering the different AS and Table configuration options.



This course focuses on the major system components that makeup the Definition AS system platform; specifically covering the different AS and Table configuration options. This course does not cover the any of the following systems; Sensation Family, Volume Zoom, Volume Access or any other Siemens CT models or systems.

Course Description: Technical Prospects’ Definition AS Training Course is an 8-day (Tuesday – Thursday) knowledge and skills development course designed for field service and support personnel. During this course, students engage in discussions, lectures and labs centered on the core principles of operation, configuration, troubleshooting and repair for all primary system components.

Prerequisites:
It is highly recommended that interested students have the following Knowledge/Experience;

  • Completion of a Radiation Safety Training
  • 2 or more years of industry/military experience working with CT equipment OR
  • Attendance of an OEM’s Introduction to CT or CT Basics course (Certificates may be requested)

Students are required to provide the listed equipment;

  • Personal dosimeter


Outcome:
Upon completion of this training course, students will;

  • Understand terms & symbols used by Siemens
  • Identify, configure, troubleshoot and diagnose components of the Definition AS;
  • Understand terms & symbols used by Siemens
    • Gantry and Table systems
    • Power Distribution
    • Water and Air Cooling systems
    • Image Control and Reconstruction system
  • Understand the relationships and interactions of all system components
  • Successfully interact with and navigate the system’s Syngo software interface
  • Perform configuration and adjustments via service software
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose system problems based upon error codes
  • Review and perform the recommended bi-annual Preventative Maintenance procedures


Course Details: 

Technical Prospects’ Definition AS Training course includes the following;

Lectures and discussions consisting of;

  • Terminology, signals and signal paths
  • Functions of individual boards and components
  • Location, identification and function of all major subcomponents
  • LED location and identification
  • Error code location and identification for each of the primary system components

Laboratory exercises consisting of;

  • Hands-on experiences providing in-depth understanding and knowledge of system components
  • Detailed instruction and opportunity to interact with the Syngo software interface
  • Exposure to accessing the system event log
  • Perform a full system Tune-up and OEM recommended Preventative Maintenance procedures

Course grading consists of;

  • There will be a course covering final exam administered the final day of the course. Consistent course attendance and final exam must be completed to receive a course completion certificate.


Instructor: 

Technical Prospects’ Definition AS Training course is taught by Ken Hable, MD, BSRT.

Ken started his career in the Medical Imaging field by becoming a Radiographic Technologist. In addition, he has held the positions of Chief Technologist and Assistant Director of Medical Imaging. Ken left the Medical Imaging field to become a multivendor, multi-platform certified Computer Network Engineer building on his experiences within the RIS/HIS realms.

In 2006 Ken graduated from medical school. He chose to pursue the electro-mechanical engineering side of the medical imaging field and after being an independent consultant for 3 years, joined Technical Prospects in 2009.
