September Guru of the Month - Stan Skaggs

September Guru -
Stan SkaggsTenacity is what best describes Stan Skaggs and his nearly 40 years in the biomed field! As the St Mary’s Regional Medical Center's Director of Biomedical Services and Site Leader for GE Healthcare as a Biomed III in Russellville, Arkansas, Stan takes working on everything from thermometers to EEGs seriously and does so with the utmost care. Various equipment can be found on Stan’s bench. He mostly works on IV pumps, but can repair or PM basically every device in his facility. 

Stan has been a MedWrench user for over 10 years. He enjoys using the forums on equipment pages to learn tricks and techniques from colleagues. He is also quick to share advice on the forums when he has information that can help a fellow biomed. Camaraderie is important, and he likes that MedWrench gives biomeds a platform where they can connect. 

Because of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center's remote location, most of Stan’s continuing education and training is completed via online videos, FaceTime, etc. In addition, OEMS often provide onsite training with new equipment purchases as well. Stan strongly encourages other biomed techs to “... pay attention to details, don’t take shortcuts. Check and double check! These machines could be on yourself or your family…”

Outside of his career, Stan enjoys working on sports cars and spending time with his family.
