COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This knowledge-based online course is designed to prepare someone for higher level imaging courses. Upon completion, the student will have a working knowledge of terminology and principles of the following areas as it applies to medical CT imaging.
PREREQUISITES:
It is highly recommended that interested students have the following Knowledge/Experience;
- Completion of a two year electronics course of study
OR
- Have the equivalent, hands-on service experience in the Biomedical or Imaging fields.
AND
- Completion of Technical Prospects’ Introduction to X-ray Online course or equivalent
Students are required to have reliable access to the following tools;
- Personal Computer/Laptop
- Internet Connection
OUTCOME:
Upon completion of this training course, students will;
- Learn how CT imaging began and how it is impacting our daily lives
- Understand the basic components and circuity that make up CT systems
- Acquire knowledge of the items/processes leading to image production;
- X-ray production/generation
- Detectors
- Image processing computers
- Image production and display
- Define image quality and the factors that effect it
- Gain a foundation of the troubleshooting concepts used while working on CT systems
