“Repair/PM a unit to work without strife, embrace and rejoice for you have saved another life!”

Jina Walls decided to work in the HTM field, indefinitely, after working as an intern for the Department of Veteran Affairs in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a recent graduate in December 2019 with a Masters in Biomedical Informatics, Jina is currently a Biomedical Engineer at a Military Depot in Tracy, CA.

While she was working as an intern in Indianapolis, IN, Jina walked into an MD Expo. With her resume in hand, she went to every booth, but no one would give her any tips on what to do to actually understand the career and how the process works. When she walked to the MedWrench booth, she was invited with smiles and an invitation to join the community. The representative talked her through the process as if she was already a clinical engineer. She informed the rep that she was an intern and was actually looking for a job once the internship was over. With their rapport, Jina had the confidence to hand him her resume! He looked over her resume and said, “Let’s talk!” The man took the time to sit down and give her advice to mold her resume into something with merit. Jina has been a proud member of MedWrench since 2014!

“MedWrench is an online community of hospital machines for the cool nerds.”

Jina loves the articles and MedWrench emails because they provide an insightful and different perspective of the HTM field. She also stays informed by keeping in touch with friends she’s made at different conferences like AAMI, ICE and MD Expo.

Outside of her career, Jina enjoys practicing her writing - the art of calligraphy,  playing video games (RPGs are her favorite!), and traveling… where she can practice one of the 10 fluent languages she knows (reading, writing & speaking) with Mandarin being one of them!

“When you are entering the field, be confident in your ability to figure out the complexity in a puzzle. Always have the mentality of a student because there is always more to learn. Always have fun with your job. This is the BEST FIELD IN THE WORLD! We have the coolest and smartest people in our field.”

Thank you, Jina, for your dedication to the HTM field! We appreciate your input and wisdom in our community.
