"Dennis is a retired veteran serving 20 years in the US Navy as a corpsman and a biomed tech. He is the go-to tech for not only his campus, BSW - Grapevine, but techs from other campuses reach out to him, too. He is our resident expert on Philips and GE patient monitoring, our guru on all the nurse call systems we support, and a guru on ventilator equipment. He shares his knowledge with all and is a great mentor to our younger techs. Dennis also contributes to the hospital by leading team huddles focused on resolving problems and leading projects."

"I've always been a 'tinkerer.' I was a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy for years then found out about this career field and pursued it while in the Navy," shares Dennis Duck, Senior BMET at Baylor Scott & White Health in Grapevine, Texas.
Dennis has been a member of the MedWrench community for five years and says MedWrench is "a technical website that offers great collaboration between HTM techs and pertinent news and advisories related to the HTM field."
When his shop was in need of a battery charger for their Philips MRx defibrillator batteries, he was able to locate and purchase one from a vendor who listed it on MedWrench. "I saved over $800.00 by purchasing it used, and it was in excellent condition."
To stay informed in his career, Dennis subscribes to the MedWrench discussion groups. "The open exchange of technical information in the discussion forums is an excellent source of "outside the box"
ideas," said Dennis. "I love sharing my knowledge and experience with my team members. To me, that builds strong cohesiveness and makes us a better team to service our customers."
For anyone just graduating and entering the HTM field, Dennis encourages them to become familiar and experienced with as many devices as possible. "The variety of experience will make you a valued asset to your team and to your employer," Dennis stated.
When he's not fixing equipment, Dennis can be found storm spotting and motorcycle riding!
Thank you, Dennis, for your service and your dedication to the HTM field! We appreciate your input and wisdom in our community.
