ASTM International Honors Byron Hayes with Top Annual Award

ASTM International presented its top annual award – the 2023 Award of Merit – to Byron K. Hayes for his contributions to ASTM’s medical and surgical materials and devices committee (F04).

The prestigious award, which includes the accompanying title of fellow, is ASTM’s highest recognition for distinguished service and outstanding participation in ASTM International committee activities. Hayes was recognized for his tireless leadership and broad impact on standards around implantable medical devices.

An ASTM International member since 2000, Hayes had been previously honored by the committee with the Robert E. Fairer Award (2003), the Leroy Wyman Award (2009) and the Patrick G. Laing Award (2014).

Hayes currently works in research and development within the medical products division at W.L. Gore & Associates, where he has been since joining them after his graduation from Northern Arizona University in 1981.
