From asking the experts to assisting members with equipment repairs, MedWrench is a community filled with members who help each other out. For HTM Week 2024, MedWrench is spreading awareness around the country, and world, about all the hard work biomedical and clinical engineers do. This starts with the hard work of professionals fixing medical equipment.

While we are very fortunate to have access to health care here in the United States, not everyone is as fortunate. That’s where Project C.U.R.E. makes a difference. The organization provides the necessary medical equipment and supplies so that doctors have the resources needed to care for patients.

Project C.U.R.E delivers life-saving medical equipment, supplies and services to meet the needs of people in poverty, disasters and violence. At least 400 million people are without basic health care. Every two seconds, someone aged 30 to 70 dies because of a noncommunicable disease such as cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, diabetes or cancer. Many in the developing world have little to no access to identification, detection or treatment.

Project C.U.R.E. has grown to become the world’s largest distributor of donated medical supplies, equipment, and services to health-care professionals in more than 135 countries. This is accomplished with the help of volunteers and donated medical equipment and supplies. Each year, Project C.U.R.E. ships approximately 200 40-foot semi-truck sized cargo containers carrying approximately $400,000 worth of donated medical supplies and equipment to under-resourced hospitals, clinics, and community health centers in developing countries.

For details on how to donate equipment, or volunteer, visit Let’s make HTM Week 2024 one where we help each other out.
