Women in Leadership (WIL) Becomes Official AAMI Community

The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) is pleased to announce that a new organization has joined its network as an official AAMI community. The Women in Leadership (WIL) Society seeks to promote and support female professionals in the HTM field. Now, as an official AAMI community, WIL can continue to pursue its mission with AAMI’s support.

Headed by April Lebo, President, and Kim Rowland, Vice President, WIL already includes hundreds of members and has planned multiple exciting initiatives with AAMI.

According to Lebo, “As of January 6, 2025, WIL is going to be partnering a lot more closely with AAMI. Falling under its umbrella, we’re going to be able to expand our network and reach a lot more women in HTM.”

Danielle McGeary, Vice President of HTM, AAMI, believes WIL’s new affiliation with AAMI is the logical next step for the initiative. “This partnership is going to help spread the word and enhance our presence in the HTM community,” she said. “By joining the AAMI community, WIL can continue its efforts to improve the retention and recruitment of women in HTM.”

Joining WIL is free, and interested individuals are encouraged to get started by joining the WIL LinkedIn group, which is open to all women in HTM. Current and forthcoming WIL initiatives include:

• A WIL webinar on February 12, hosted by Andrea Bordenca of DESCO. The event is worth one CEU. Registration information is available to WIL members via the LinkedIn group.
• WIL’s presence at trade shows like the 2025 AAMI eXchange in New Orleans and regional HTM meetings.
• A forthcoming mentorship program that will connect female HTM professionals with more experienced professionals in their cohort.
• Finally, official WIL merch is available, including apparel and more!

As an official AAMI community, WIL has access to AAMI’s support and resources for these and future projects. These initiatives are expected to provide invaluable support to the many women who are current and future HTM professionals.
