Colleague Sets Up GoFundMe for Heather Dedic Funk’s Family

Heather Dedic Funk, beloved sister, mother, wife, friend, and colleague passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, after a courageous 3-year battle with colon cancer.

“Today, with great sadness, I share the loss of my sister Heather Dedic Funk, who passed away after battling cancer. She was a loving mother, wife, sister, and friend, and her memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her,” Bobby Dee posted on Facebook. “My heart breaks for her daughters, Layla and Abbey, her husband Steve, and all of those who loved her so dearly. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time.”

“Heather faced every challenge with grace and determination. Through chemo, surgeries, and several clinical trials, she never gave up. Her strength carried her family through the hardest days,” Pat Fitzgerald wrote on a GoFundMe page set up for her family.

“Heather was the type of person who always showed up for others without hesitation. She was a proud Mother to Layla and Abbey, and a loyal and supportive wife to Steve. She was an amazing friend and always made time for those she loved,” he wrote.

Heather started her career with Dunlee right out of college and was quite proud of her long-standing connection to the Dunlee team and its products. She transferred to AllParts Medical when AllParts took over the Dunlee product line, and later “came home” to Chronos Imaging when Chronos bought the Dunlee factory. She was a beloved colleague and many of her strongest friendships were with people she met through her work.

“Heather will be remembered as a dedicated mother, wife and friend. She loved tie dye, good beer, the great outdoors, spending time with her family and friends, and just living life as fully as possible,” Fitzgerald wrote. “In the wake of Heather’s loss, her friends wanted to establish a GoFundMe for the benefit of her daughters Layla and Abbey, to help with education and other expenses.”

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on July 25, 2026 at the Legion Hall in White House, Tennessee from 12-4 p.m. This will be a casual event to share good memories of time spent with Heather.

“The family suggests donations to this fund for Layla and Abbey in lieu of flowers. Please keep Heather’s family in your prayers. If you’re able to give, every contribution (large or small) is appreciated as the girls continue their education and whatever comes next. Thank you for your generosity during this difficult time,” the GoFundMe page states.
