With ultrasound technology continually improving, experts are seeing more and more trends arise in the ultrasound equipment market.  From a recent TechNation article, experts discussed what they believe to be the biggest trends in ultrasound.

• Portable Systems: Experts believe that while portable systems are not replacing mainframe systems, the demand is rapidly increasing. Most clinical scans can be performed on the smaller, portable systems, making it easier for doctors and ultrasound technicians to perform their ultrasound studies.
• New Clinical Applications: Ultrasound is a cost effective way to diagnose patient problems. Experts believe that Musculosketal Imaging is rapidly expanding into the marketplace and that more and more practices are adopting the 3D/4D technology.
• Keeping Existing Equipment Longer: In today's economy, many hospitals can not afford to continuously replace existing equipment every 5-7 years.  This means more training for biomeds on how to effectively maintain the current equipment.

These trends are affecting how the ultrasound market will evolve over the next few years.
