We have all heard the saying ‘Time is Money.’  This saying is crucial in the OR.  If equipment goes down during a procedure, the hospital could lose substantial amounts of money.  Because of this, it’s important to ensure that equipment used in the OR is in top operating condition at all times.

However, according to experts in this month’s TechNation Roundtable, there are challenges when servicing and purchasing Rigid Endoscopy equipment.  Most hospitals are either outsourcing service and repair or biomedical engineers are getting engaged in the repair process.

Some other challenges include hospitals spending more on service than purchasing new equipment and they may find that the availability of parts is an issue.

Since repairing high end devices takes years of experience and knowledge and training just may not be an option (Hence, ‘Time is Money’), outsourcing service and repair may be a better option for hospitals.  But, make sure to do your due diligence when researching vendors. Making a decision on price alone is probably not the best option.

Endoscopy Specialists specializes in repair service, technical support, purchasing, and more.
