DESCRIPTION

The high-flow respiratory device is used to warm and humidify breathing gases, and it is generally prescribed during oxygen therapy for symptoms and manifestations of hypoxia, including settings of documented hypoxemia, acute care in which hypoxemia is suspected, severe trauma, and acute myocardial infarction. Secondary indications include managing hypothermia and treating bronchospasm caused by cold air.
