DESCRIPTION

The Baxter RK 2000 hypothermia unit supplies temperature-controlled water through a connector hose to a blanket in order to regulate the temperature of hypothermia and hyperthermia patients.

The unit is able to control the water temperature by mixing hot and cold water in solenoid valves underneath the microcontroller control. A probe senses the patients temperature and fluid and displays it on the LED control panel for for ease of patient management. Additionally, this unit has three different modes; manual mode which allows the user to set the blanket temperature and the unit will bring the blanket to that desired set point, auto mode which allows the user to set the patient temperature and the unit will adjust the blanket temperature to achieve the desired patient temperature, and monitor mode in which the user can simply monitor the patients temperature without providing any therapy. The blankets can be used either on top or underneath the patient and a second blanket can be attached to this unit for more rapid therapy. This unit also has four casters attached to it allowing it to be rolled around.
