I'm trying to replace the motor in this centrifuge, but the only way to get to the bad one is sealed by rivets. Am I missing something?

I've had a couple of complaints about a new centrifuge smelling bad, or smelling as though it was burning. To me, it smells like "new centrifuge". Have others experienced this? Might it be a genetics thing, where each individual interprets/processes the smell differently?
